About Red Canary
Red Canary LLC is owned and operated by Shena Blomgren, who has been painting and decorating homes for 16 years. Shena is also an independent artist, experimenting with and working in various mediums.
A 1997 Graduate of Wartburge College in Waverly, IA, Shena holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts. After graduating from Wartburg, Shena relocated to Wilmington, NC, accepting a position as a graphic designer and also working as an independent artist and painter.
Upon settling in Madison, WI, in 2001, Shena began pursuing her dream of owning a business. Combining her interests in home decorating and design and using her skills as an artist and painter, Shena started her custom painting business and has been proudly providing the Madison Metro Area with high-quality custom painting and related home decorating services ever since.
Since 2006, she has been a member of the Madison Area Artists Directory and was selected in 2007 as a working artist to judge the pastel category and present at the Trailways All Conference Art Show in Pardeeville, WI. Shena is also a member of Dane Buy Local and samples of her decorative painting work are on display at McGovern & Sons in Madison, WI (located on Odana Road).

Red Canary LLC provides our clients with high-quality custom painting services for walls, trim, ceilings, furniture and selective exterior structures. We specialize in decorative painting, custom stenciling, faux finishing, murals and more.
Painting Our interior painting services begin with basic painting services for walls, ceilings, and trim. From a fresh coat of paint on the ceiling to a vibrant red accent wall in the kitchen . . . even brilliantly white high-gloss painted trim in the formal dining room . . . we cover all the basics, including staining and varnishing.
Exterior_Projects Our exterior projects range from staining decks, painting fences and maintaining trim to more specialized techniques, including, but not limited to: Concrete stenciling; antiqueing for mailboxes, down spouts and gutters; and wood graining for steel doors.
Color_Consulting Unsure about what colors to choose? No problem! With each painting project scheduled, color consulting is included--no need to spend countless hours searching for the perfect color. Red Canary will assist you with the task, offering color schemes based upon your personal style, decorating ideas and needs. Whether you want to make a large room cozier or make a small space feel bigger, we can propose many ideas to help you create the perfect space.
Decorative_Painting From one-of-a-kind finishes using combinations of rag rolling, sponging, color washing, etc., to creating "fake" wood graining, granite, marble, patinas and so forth, we offer a nearly limitless range decorative and faux painting services.
Plaster Red Canary creates custom plaster finishes ranging from polished Venetian Plaster and hand-troweled effects to relief stenciling. Some finishes are achieved with highly-buffed Venetian Plaster and others are created using mudding compounds that are later painted a solid color or accented with decorative painting techniques.
Stenciling Our stenciling services include creating custom-made stencils--we will design and cut one-of-a-kind stencils to meet your artistic vision. We also do "block" stenciling (where a repeating stencil covers an entire wall, like wallpaper) and relief stenciling (stenciling that is 3-D).
Murals In addition to wall murals, we also paint movable murals . . . these are installation pieces framed to fit your wall space . . . if you ever move, or just want to redecorate, the mural can be easily removed. From a jungle scene in a child's room to vines painted around a kitchen window, murals are a great way to add a truly unique touch to any room.
